She's Gotta Have It

At some point I decided I didn't own enough "F.U.N." shoes...
At this point, I am definitely heading in the right direction. Shoes: Jeffery Campbell

The Littlest Elf

top: Custo Barcelona
skirt: Yesstyle
shoes: Michael Kors
headband: Forever XXI
rings: Swarovski
Feeling a bit Mary Katrantzou with this top... I have had it for ages and could never part with it. Too bad this is probably as close as I will ever get to the real thing. MEH!
On a random note, I miss my Snicket series... debating on whether to spring for the digital version for my kindle. Do I really need it in two formats... But lugging around 13 books is def out of the question.

Remix

I have been repeating quite a bit lately (the stuff with tags is trying to figure out wth). Anyhow, here is this look re-imagined for late spring.

One In Every Family

Well, at least what every family needs. Possibly my new favorite movie, definitely in my top ten (can you believe I just viewed this for the first time?! thx momma). She even put a bird on it (see if you can find a clip of the Christmas scene, or watch it here)!

Elle In The 80s

Pop culture, larger than life designers, and 80s fashion, and the magazine that chronicled it all...
Elle Style: The 1980s is all that you hate to love about the decade (perhaps you loved to love it... I was much to young to truly appreciate then). I remember my momma dressing like this and just shaking my head. Who knew that craziness was actually stylish?! The 80s were really good to my momma because she was all about over the top. And now all of my favorite vintage pieces are from the 80s, so what can I say?! I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fashion magazine's perspective on the decade, or a laugh.

No Apologies

Today was a special day for the world. No one knew what to do with me. Not to say that people don't stop me on the regular to question my styling choices (and I mean really grill me, like I OWE them an explanation/apology), but today was exemplary (and my outfit was not, you would think I was rocking a look from the courtroom scene in The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest (which was awesome btw, outfit, movie and all)*). My favorite comment was, "You don't look like a ... (fill in the blank, because at that point stuff really got weird)!" Seriously?! What does "one" look like?! We hope that you choke, and by we I mean Thom and I (and Fred of course). Here is something I do not need more of in my life!! I kept it mellow for my first collar outing. The things I have planed for my black holy cross collar...

collar: Dimepiece Designs
tank: Dimepiece Designs
pants: Forever XXI
belt: J. Crew
necklace: ??
rings: ebay & Neivz for 80s Purple
timepiece: Nooka
mocs: Sam Edelman

*I was able check out the subs (yes, subs! reading is my passion) through Amazon Prime and loved it. Super intense stuff... I am a bit worried about the American adaptation... I mean, this country is uber conservative and the source material is not. Gawd, I hope we don't eff it up.

Any Given Sunday

Momma and I toured the Houston Pond Society & Lone Star Koi Club homes on Sunday. GORGEOUS! Feeling super inspired... The home with the garden in the back (and zero grass) was my favorite. I knew faeries had to be frolicking about back there.

Fake David Bowie Song

harems: Yesstyle (notice how short the men's pants are on me, WTH?!)
tank: DKNY
harness: Bliss Lau
shoes: Puma
cuff: Luella for Target (LUELLA! I miss you!)
The Zubaz reference (epic fail on your accuracy momma) was enough to dampen the mood, but I am still so in love with all things drop crotch right now. Because these are men's pants, there is an awkward "vent?!"... "access?!" in the front that I have no idea what to do with. Oh bother.

For Art's Sake

Made a visit to the MFA last weekend for the Titian exhibit. Momma is bummed we missed the impressionist exhibit, but we were way too exhausted to attempt it after the Art Car Parade. I really love going to the MFA, but too bad we didn't have time to stop by the CAM too... next time.   Anyhow, here is my art day outfit.
dress: BCBG
belt: Vintage (gifted from momma of course)
wedges: 80%20
lace bodysuit: FXXI
bag: Dior
rings: ebay & obey
necklace: rustic attitude

Crow... EAT IT!

*She gave me the most incredulous look. No explanation was necessary, I knew she didn't believe me. I was steadfast, no way would I ever, EVER where those tacky, bedazzled, 80's relics. ALAS, THAT VERY DAY, I DID (hangs head, goes limp between the shoulders). The disappointment was palapable and her reverie, nauseating. So here it goes...

Opera coat: Thrited (Upscale Resale)
Bandeau: Vintage (grinding teeth)
Harems: Ralph Lauren Purple Label
Earrings: Mom's old costume stuff
Ring: nOir (Yogi)
I bought this coat a while back at Upscale Resale and I absolutely love it! It is all hand worked and just oozing with 50s sophistication. I wonder what sort of woman owned it before it came into my possession (I will spare you that story, because you can bet I have an intricate theory all laid out)?! I am thinking of having my coat relined with a more sumptuous and colorful fabric. I will be heading over to High Fashion (super amazing fabric store here in town) to pick out a few options. I love going in High Fashion, the design space is so gorg and insanely inspiring and don't even get me started on the furniture... (*DROOL, oh crap! the keyboard!)

*Momma took these photos around September of last year and I never posted them... no time like the present...
